Costumes to Pull Off this Halloween

Finding just the right look for your Halloween festivities is a great way for you to express yourself and celebrate the spookiest holiday here in Georgetown, MA at Longview at Georgetown. Today we have ideas for great costumes to try or get inspired by so you can have fun in style, whether you’re waiting for trick-or-treaters in your apartment or you’re out and about.
Smartie Pants
The “nerd” costume is so overdone, but you can still show off your smarts by trying this costume instead! You'll look sweet and smart with this idea. Just slip into some old trousers and tape, pin, or glue as many Smarties candies as you can all over them. Add some nerdy glasses, suspenders, and a bow-tie to complete the look.
Self Portrait
For something clever, artsy, and easy, try this idea from Real Simple. Here are the instructions: “Use a frame that’s large enough to showcase you, the painting, from the bust up. For a classical look, tie your hair back into a low ponytail or bun and wear ruffles or a cameo around your neck. Sign your name on a mailing label or plain white sticker and adhere to the top left corner of your shirt, so it peeks out from the bottom of the frame and looks like the artist’s ‘signature.’”
Marietta Edgecombe from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Don’t be afraid to go for something a little more obscure if you feel passionately about it. Any diehard Harry Potter fan will love this idea! Switch things up from the classic random Hogwarts student costume by referencing a character from the books. Just don your school uniform and use makeup to form the word, “SNEAK” across your cheeks and nose to imitate the girl who ratted out Dumbledore’s Army to Professor Umbridge.
