Three Ways Your Apartment is Causing You Stress

Your apartment should be a place that relaxes, not stresses, you. You should look forward to going home after a long day of work. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for some people. Work, finances, and life drama can play into stress, but did you know that things like the color of items in your bedroom, processed food in your kitchen, and light in your living room can cause stress?

Colors in your Bedroom

Okay, colors probably don’t top the list of stress-causing things in your apartment, but it’s no secret that this is one of the most visual things in each room of your living space. Take a moment and look around at the different colors floating around you. May we suggest something: add an abundance of items with soothing hues, such as blues, soft-greys, and other muted tones.

Processed Food in your Kitchen

We recently read an article about how someone changed their diet to help their anxiety. This got us to thinking about how food. While it doesn’t necessarily cause stress or anxiety, can play a role in our mental health. Whenever we add items like fruit or vegetables regularly into our diet, we feel better. You don’t need to change everything about your diet right away — we love processed food as much as the next person — but try and take little steps to help give your life that added boost of focus and positivity that it needs.

Light in your Living Room

Wash your windows regularly. Go one step further and open them if it’s not too cold outside. Sure, the sun’s warm rays can be damaging to the skin, but there is no denying the benefits of it.
